sober jumpstart
one-on-one anonymous support
This is Belle speaking.
I offer private/anonymous coaching, and have worked with over 3,000 people one-on-one in the past 10 years.
Lalisa: "Belle, I just finished listening to this lesson. For some reason I cried all the way through it after you said "you aren't broken" I think that is the hardest part for me. I keep feeling like I've tried this before and I just keep failing so there is something wrong with me. Everything you say in this hits home so much. Glad I registered for the sober jumpstart!:
Melodi: "Thank you especially for your Sober Jumpstart coaching. I feel as though someone has thrown me a lifeline. It is so refreshing to get strategies from someone who has already been down this same path. For the first time in my life I don't feel as if I'm having to do it alone. I think this is the best decision I have made in a long time. Maybe ever. I was a bit concerned about what we would discuss in our coaching call, but again you helped me to navigate that in way that gave me concrete, practical solutions to my concerns. As I have told you before I do not EVER want to do day 1 again. I am thankful to be on day 10 and I look forward to celebrating my 90 days with you. Kindest regards, Melodi"
Sharon (2 years sober): "Belle, you don't get or take the credit you deserve. Someday we'll meet and I will embarrass you with a huge, hard hug and a big sloppy kiss. When I look out my upstairs window I'm taken back to two years ago, having just finished your sober jumpstart class. I could see my husband weeding the flowerbeds. This was a first for both of us. I was talking with you on the phone. I was a little afraid to talk to you. I was nervous, my voice trembled, I confessed to how awful it was, how I couldn't remember things. I couldn't believe I was what, maybe 12 days sober, you'd have the records. I think I signed up when I was like 5 days? I don't remember that, but I remember things you said. "You wouldn't take cocaine, would you? Well then, don't pick up a drink.' You let me talk, gave me pointers. 'OK, goodbye.' That was the first of a couple of calls. Such support you offered a stranger thousands of miles away. You gave me hope. You threw me a lifeline, I was drowning, you pulled me ashore. I will sing your praises until my heart stops beating. You have given me a longer, richer, fuller life. I promise to continue to make you proud. I owe you. You are my friend."

You have tried moderating.
You've tried drinking less.
You've made rules for yourself (only on weekends, never more than two).
One thing you maybe haven't tried is to do this booze-free thing with support.
For me, the voice in my head was too loud and I needed someone to tell me it'd get better (it does) and that what I was going through was normal (it is).
So I created this sober penpal / sober jumpstart thing to help you be sober.
When you sign up below, we are penpals for a year . We will email back and forth daily, you ask questions (or whine, that's fine!) and Apprentice Elise answers or I answer, and we brainstorm ideas for you, and cheerlead and say "hooray" :)
As well, you get audio lessons for the first 7 days and then archived podcasts for the days after, and we'll have coaching calls, too.
I only have a limited number of penpal spots open at any time, and so depending on when you arrive here, you may find that the 'class' is closed.
“Having a new audio to look forward to every day was exactly what I needed. A little boost of help/some advice to consider throughout the day and reminders that you are on the right track were key for me. Definitely a good investment!” ~ Runner Amy
[updated February 7, 2023]
My coaching method is currently CLOSED to new clients
As you can imagine, my services are in demand. There's nobody else doing what I'm doing - personal, one-on-one sober support, with daily emails and coaching calls and audio lessons. Sometimes I'm full, like now. Sometimes I close my coaching to new clients, so that I can fully focus on my current penpals.
If you'd like to get an invitation when I have a spot open,
enter your email address here.
I expect to have a few spots available in the first few weeks of February 2023.
Refund Policy:
If for some reason you decide that this class and penpal support isn’t for you, then you cancel any time within the first 24 hrs after you sign up, and I will then refund your purchase (less credit card fees) and turn off any payment plans.
This 24-hour window gives you time to listen to the Intro audio AND the audio for Lesson 1, AND to make contact with me to be penpals all before Lesson 2 is delivered.
I cannot provide refunds or turn off payment plans after Lesson 2.
Also, please note. Being sober is hard. You will feel better with more support. Your head will say "this is all too hard" and you will sign up for the support and stick with it. Yes, even if you relapse. Even on hard days. You are paying for a year of support and I hold the space for you for the whole year, whether you use it or not (but you will!). You want more support. That's why you're here. Please don't panic and say "I can't be sober, I want a refund" because I will say no, and you'll think I'm being mean. But I'm here to support you. And hold the space for you. Because you want this.

“Hearing you is different from writing, I listened to the first audio 3 times. Your coaching class came along at a perfect time for me ... It is not so much advice as encouragement to tap into the best of ourselves. Who we were before the bottle. Before "Wolfie". We can get back to that and then go from there to live the life we are meant to live. Free. Happy. Healthy. Belle, you are practical and I feel like I have known you for years. This class contains practical steps you can act on and support from the heart that will put a big smile on your face and fill you with happiness you could never get from a bottle of alcohol (poison).” ~ Em
Questions:
1. Is it you? Belle, when I send an email, will I know who is replying to me? If it's not you, that's fine, as long as whoever it is has personal experience that matches yours, because your stuff speaks to me and I feel it's important to be able to build a relationship and trust with whomever is on the other end.
My emails come from my email address. When you are emailing Apprentice Elise, you'd know because she has a different email address from mine, so a different 'from' line and she signs her emails with her name. It's all very transparent. If you get an email from me, it's from me.
2. How fast? How soon are you (and your team) able to respond to emails? I am scared that if I manage to actually reach out for help that I might have to wait for a response. I know this sounds horribly unreasonable, expecting you to be there whenever I need you, but I need to ask the question because at the moment ... I think there might be times when I am desperate. Also, in time, can we work together to pre-empt this last minute panic and spot the warning signs earlier?
Apprentice Elise and I generally answer emails from my penpals within 24 hrs. If I happen to be online when you email, then I respond faster, but generally once a day. Yes, we can work on de-escalating things - and you will also find that just in emailing, you feel better, even if you know I may not respond instantaneously. Your brain is a complicated place. It feels better just by reaching out.
3. Billing? Hi Belle, I would like to have a penpal but I have a joint account ... how would the debit appear on the bank statement?
Here’s what I understand: when you purchase something from me through Gumroad, that’s what shows up on your credit card statement (gumroad.com). You might also want to purchase a pre-paid credit card, like a gift card that works for any MasterCard purchase (prepaid gift card). You can buy them with cash (in Canada you get them at the drug store and grocery store at the cash register). Then you can use them like a regular MasterCard but there’s no personal info attached. You being sober is a big deal. You getting support to be sober is a good idea. But I know that keeping your stuff private often makes sense too.
“I am not ready to own up and admit my drinking problem to a room full of people. I am not ready to wear a label. I may never be. But I am not in denial, and I desperately want to be saved.” ~ Carrie
