Solstice to Solstice June 2022

From Sober in Richmond (The Solstice Guy): “I started my 100 Day challenge on the Solstice [and am celebrating 7.5 years sober on June 21st] … If there is anyone out there who needs some motivation to start – perhaps they can do the Solstice to Solstice. It really helped me to have the power of the whole darn earth behind me rather than a day or date on a calendar … It’s an incredibly magical thing, the Solstice to Solstice!”

Imagine it’s the longest day of the year (Tuesday June 21st in the northern hemisphere). Imagine you’re sober. Today can be your Day 1 or maybe it’s your Day 50. Or 400. Doesn’t matter. Can you see yourself sober on December 21st? Winter Solstice. Stand here. Look ahead 180 days. Because if you think the view from day 100 is great, wait until you see 180 days.

I like the idea of having the ‘whole darn earth behind me’ – how about you?

Belle

I want to put this online, to hold myself accountable. I want to document the noise in my head. I'm tired of thinking about drinking. date of last drink: june 30, 2012

  • A bit belated with my declaration but I’m going to be sober from solstice to solstice again this year! Day 709 for me.

  • Well, I missed the chance to go solstice to solstice by a day. Yesterday would’ve been my 20th wedding anniversary and I let it get to me. My wife died 19 years ago this past March. Day one is today though.

  • Solstice is day 7 for me- I’m on a family trip to Alaska and having it be the longest, brightest day of the year is helping me to see forward to December 21- I want this, I can do this!

  • I’m on Day 80 today (officially Day 79 for summer solstice, yesterday). I’m keeping on! On December 21, I’ll be on Day 261. I’m doing it! I don’t want to go back there, want to be here – healthy and well.

  • I can see myself sober on December 21! I am excited to commit to the Solstice to Solstice (and beyond! :-)). Thank you Belle.

  • solstice to solstice sounds like a great way to work on this AF lifestyle. I am ready, but fearful. tried so many times before. spent money on programs. drank a bottle of wine last night!!
