Audio: Alcohol in the house

For episode #86, available for sober podcast thingy subscribers, I answer a question submitted by Zenmeg: “How to cope when alcohol is in the house. Either someone brought some over for dinner, as a gift, or you bought some for dinner guests and it is still unopened and in the house.” So I try to address this question, both in how I personally deal with it, but also how other people adjust their lives. There is no one size fits all answer here but I try to hit the big ideas on what YOU can do to make it easier for yourself going forward.

The full audio is 14 minutes long, here’s an extract (this is the first 2.5 minutes):

I want to put this online, to hold myself accountable. I want to document the noise in my head. I'm tired of thinking about drinking. date of last drink: june 30, 2012

  • Oh, I am so lucky my husband stopped drinking to support me! (He didn’t have a problem.) We got rid of all alcohol in the house. I have had a party and there was wine, but I just had someone else pour it, and didn’t have the bottles sitting in front of me.
