while i’m away, thought I’d share a previous blog post. this is one of my favourites. i nearly cried writing it.
Here’s an extract:
And Oprah, would you ask the same question to someone addicted to cocaine? wouldn’t you recognize that while the person using the drug probably has something they’re trying to self-medicate, sure, but that the drug itself takes over pretty quickly and demands more. the drug makes you crave more drugs. >> continue reading here
I love this post too, for so many reasons. Mostly because 148 days sober shows me more and more clearly what I was trying to self-medicate and how tonnes of manure were dumped upon me by the booze covering the real me and filling my life with yuk!
I love this post too, for so many reasons. And I wonder how LL is travelling 7 months later . . .
Happy Birthday to you Belle xxx
I really enjoyed it. I would have given you a standing ovation had it been you saying that. I dislike how Oprah has been getting, acting like she’s being edgy or really putting people “on the spot”.
She’s just lacking empathy now, and not letting people express themselves properly– as seen with her grilling of Raven Symone when she said she just wanted to be called “American” as opposed to “AFRICAN American”. Poor girl was just trying to say that she had no actual African family/ancestry that she knew of, not that she was ashamed of being black.
So yeah, Oprah has lost a lot of respect from me over things like these. Someone should stand up to her like you would have.
Thank you for sharing, and take care,
Moody Thursday
Since I’m newer here I’m glad you are reposting some things I’ve missed. I’d love to go back and read every single thing you ever wrote but that takes time so it’s great to have some of your favorites posted again. I remember watching this episode of Oprah and love the insight you bring to it.
Thank you for such a fantastic post
