treats + sleep = happy sober girl

i am well. i slept until 11 a.m. this morning 🙂 Mr. B. is happily settled in with his family, and he got to eat at his favourite north american breakfast place this morning. Me, I went shopping at the international market, as i wanted to research ideas for a new savoury treat box. the caramelized nuts were DIVINE (i ate the entire thing in one go) but that little jar was 6,20€ so about $8.70 USD… but holy they were great.

Thanks to the Tiny Gift Button.

From L to R: Crackers with goat cheese and rosemary, caramelized nuts,
seedy crackers, duck paté in a little can in the little box, really great italian
tomato sauce with capers, and orange gaspacho soup
in a can (apparently you drink it like juice)…

And hey, thanks to everyone who has been sending me ‘worried’ emails today. i’m really doing great. i (gulp) kinda like being on my own. i’m really content to have my tentacles retracted. and it’s school vacation here so it’s QUIET – any neighbours with kids are all away, the streets are empty. and man it was 14C today. i could be gloating. ok, i think i will. i’m GREAT! Mr. B. called twice today on the toll free office phone (including while i was recording today’s podcast). all. is. well. and. then. some.

I want to put this online, to hold myself accountable. I want to document the noise in my head. I'm tired of thinking about drinking. date of last drink: june 30, 2012

  • Treats are such divine pleasure; it’s wonderful that you developed kindness to yourself and model that behavior for those of us who have difficulty being nice to the one person we are with all the time. !~~ Ourselves ~~!

  • wonderful food from strange shops–love it. you can gloat, you deserve it. i love gloating sober days. today is not one for me, but i’m glad i read this b/c i know it’s coming back ’round soon=see you here, feeling great. hugs!

    • there are up days and crappy days. i guess that’s just life. none of it is improved with booze — neither the up nor the down. and really, after sleeping in until 11 a.m. (i.e. catching up on sleep) i find it MUCH easier to gloat than i usual would. i guess the hints for me to remember are: sleep + treats = gloating…

  • I think the give away clue is in the word ‘Treats’, as in not often, but occasionally nice to have… Hell I had a bag of nuts yesterday, doesn’t mean you are going to sleep for ’12hours’! Enjoy Belle!
