well, this Sunday morning audio didn’t quite go the way i thought it would. I had a serious topic in mind, and then things kind of deteriorated. I had some great coaching calls yesterday, with lots of inspiration (!) and I woke this morning with lots of ideas to share.Β Here’s one of those ideas … sort of. Let me know what you think π

I’m thrilled to know there are other women over 60 who are trying to get that sober car moving.
loved hearing your voice! You are very reassuring and so supportive. Thank you for sharing this with us!

needed this greatly today.. had plenty to tell to kiss my ass….
you rock!
Hahahaha. LOVE it. Toot toot, or is that sound, kiss my ass? I think it’s true, esp. when it comes to those friends who for whatever reason (none of your concern) are sort of taken aback by your–gasp!–decision to stop treating yourself like a bag of shit. After a while, they start to respect you along with you! Great podcast! π
imagine having friends who donβt want what’s best for us… thanks for being here! you’re my kind of friend : )
Good! And I LOVE getting older as people around me get more like this. I have had the you can kiss my ass attitude since I was 17. My gift/curse relationship with my Mother required I grown a pair in order to stay sane. I did fly the coop early too and then did find it difficult to find people my age and I hate to say it but mostly women who were honest and not passive aggressive or people pleasers and back stabbers. I am enjoying my friendships much more now as they finally shed those habits. Life is way to short for imitation vanilla and imitation behaviors.
Dear Belle,
Wow, I just love reading your blog. It is entertaining, informative and enlightening. I have been struggling for quite a while. I have decided enough is enough and I designated this date (Sept. 8th) as Day one. I hope to join your 100 Day Challenge (after I get to at least Day 7…. which I do expect to do). I loved your audio this morning. As a mom of three kids who has passed over to the late 40ish mark, I hear what you are saying. It took me a little longer but…I just grew my set too and I’m taking good care of them! Hope to join you all in a week!
will be happy to have you in the challenge whenever you’re ready … glad you enjoyed the audio : ) hugs from me.
Yes Belle – Wish I would have heard this when I was 40. Had to wait until I turned 60 before I grew my set. But…better late then never! Hugs!
definitely. better late than never is right!
I love it. This reminds me of the Wanda Sykes routine about why she loves getting older: “I don’t give a fuck”.
Ha-perfect Sumday morning surprise. You rock. And funny that I thought I was the only one who had to worry about boats with coolers full of beer and no water (well, that’s not quite true–it’s usually, “well, we ONLY have 24 beers, and it’s pretty full, but aren’t we thoughtful to throw a water or two on top for you?” ). π Thanks Belle. Happy sober day.
It’s a great way to start the day and your sense of humor and in your face – saying piss off – I’m not drinking is where I’m at right now. I love hearing your voice. Makes me feel more connected to you. I’d like to even learn how to do that so that maybe I can share some audio with my team (up to 757 members) one day. You Rock Belle! Happy Sunday!! Love ~me π
helene, I’ll make you a deal. you get to 100 days continuously sober and I’ll tell you how I make the audios : )
Truer words were never spoken. I used to be so mousey and now in my 60’s get the fuck out of my way! No meek old granny here. It’s now ALL about me. Oh , I will still sacrifice for my family and love them unconditionally but watch out. I take time for myself. I’m going to enjoy my life for ME. I waited too long to get sober and I like me this way. I like waking up with a clear head, treating myself with little rewards instead of bottomless guilt and shame in that bottle of wine. If you don’t like the new me, we’ll that’s your loss. As I say to those that give me a hard time…bite me. Not exactly what you’d expect from the grandmother of three girls, but you know 60 is the new 40! Us boomers are a hearty bunch once we get our shit together.
Love hearing your voice, this was my first time, and I so agree with your topic! Great way to start my day – Belle and coffee
